Large Somaek's journey began long before the vision took shape. It all started with a K-drama... During the COVID pandemic lockdown, we found ourselves with nothing new to watch and decided to give a K-drama a try. What followed was a whirlwind of entertainment, excitement, unpredictability, humor, and action. One drama led to another, and soon we were diving deep into the rich tapestry of Korean culture.

Our fascination grew as we explored Korean food, language, history, and more. This passion for learning and embracing the culture culminated in a life-changing trip to South Korea. My daughter studied at Yonsei University, I earned a Kimchi certification in Seoul, and we even attended a cooking class at the Ottogi corporate kitchens. These experiences highlighted the importance of community and family in Korean culture, fostering incredible relationships, warmth, and interconnectedness.

Koreans also have an incredible and admirable respect for both tradition and growth, maintaining this balance in more ways than one can put into words. When you stand in the center of Seoul, gazing at the city gate, a palace, or perhaps at the entrance of an old hanok community, you can truly see and feel this harmony. It is these moments and feelings that inspired the concept of Large Somaek. Our unique glass combines the history, tradition, and culture of somaek with a modern twist. The 16-ounce (433 ml) glass opens up new opportunities to enjoy somaek in various settings and experiences.
